Exporting Texts to Localize
Scenario: You want to export texts from the views and libraries of a project for translation into a different language. Texts will be exported in the language of the current user (for example, EN-US).
- System Manager is in Engineering mode.
- In System Browser, select Management View.
- Select Project.
- Select the Localization tab.
- Open the Export expander.
- From the Configured Views list, select the System Browser views whose texts you want to export.
- From the available Libraries list, select the system libraries whose texts you want to export.
- Click Browse.
- In the Browse for Folder dialog box, do one of the following:
- Select the folder where you want to save the export XML files and click OK.
- Create a new folder in which to save the file as follows: click New Folder, enter the name, and click OK.
- Click Export.
- The Cancel button replaces the Export button, and the export starts. Its status is indicated in the status bar. When the operation is complete, the Export dialog box displays the results.
- One or several XML files are created in the export folder: a single XML file containing all the views selected for export, and a separate XML file for each library selected for export.
The exported XML files can be sent out for translation. Translators must modify the Culture attribute in the root node of each file to match the target language. Each Text attribute in the file must be translated into the target language. For importing the translated XML files, see Importing Localized Texts.
