Standard Client Profiles
The client profile is a configuration that can be applied to an individual user or station.
The selected client profile determines the appearance and behavior of the Summary bar, Event List, and other system functions involved in event handling, such as:
- What event lamps display in the Summary bar
- The default pane layout of System Manager
- Whether the Summary bar can be collapsed
- The background category colors in Event List
For more details about the effects of a specific client profile on the user interface and its compatibility with the project’s event schema, refer to the client profile documentation of the specific subsystem.
For instructions on installing client profiles, see Install or Update an Extension in Additional Installer Procedures.
Adequate Client Profile
After installation or project restore, Desigo CC starts with the DEFAULT client profile associated to the user. DEFAULT is a generic Client profile intended only for configuration use (the user interface allows more space on the screen for the configuration applications). To prevent system inconsistencies, remember to specify an appropriate Client profile at the station level (see Setting the Client Profile of a Station) or, for greater flexibility, you can omit the Client profile setting on a station, and specify it at user level instead (see New Local User).
If you specify a client profile for a station, this will always apply, overriding the client profile associated with the user.
If you do not set the client profile for a station, the client profile associated with the current user will be applied to the station.
How to Determine which Client Profiles are Compatible
The Client profile you apply to a station or user must be compatible with the event schema for the project as a whole. In most cases (project created from template), the drop-down list displays only compatible client profiles. However, if the drop-down list displays a large number of client profiles, you can determine which ones are compatible as follows:
- In System Browser, select Management View.
- Select Project > System Settings.
- In the Extended Operation tab, check the event schema for the current project: (AT, EN, DE, UL, ULC, ULC-S576, or blank (default)).
Working with LDL Profiles Extensions
DEFAULT.ldl is the base client profile starting from which LDL extensions can be created to contain any addition, replacement, and deletion entity with respect to the base LDL profile.
Desigo CC loads the base profile (DEFAULT.ldl) or one of its extensions. Desigo CC uses the name of base profile string (that is, DEFAULT.ldl) to search for a folder in the profiles folder belonging to the current project. If it finds a folder with this name (that is, DEFAULT), it loads all the LDL files present in this folder that represent any extensions of the DEFAULT client profile. Then Desigo CC merges the base client profile with the extensions.
To avoid inconsistencies:
- Do not rename the DEFAULT.ldl or the DEFAULT folder.
- Make sure that all the LDL extensions are included in the DEFAULT folder.
Working with Customized LDL Profiles
To work with the customized ldl profiles in the current version, you must save those profiles using a unique name other than the profile name of the installed extensions and then you must add them in a whitelist file (CustomizedProfiles.ini file at the location ...\GMSMainProject\Profiles) before restoring or upgrading the project. Customized profiles not included in the CustomizedProfiles.ini file can be deleted during SMC operations. For projects earlier than V3.0, you must manually create the file CustomizedProfiles.ini by adding the customized profiles.
