Creating and Configuring Multi Zone Audio Device
Scenario: You want to configure the Multi Zone Device.

Prerequisites:
- Multi Zone Audio Device is installed and configured.
- System Manager is in Engineering mode.
- In System Browser, select Management View.
Steps:
- Depending on where to add the driver, select one of the following:
- Project > Management System > Servers > Main Server > Drivers
- Project > Management System > FEPs > [FEP Station] > Drivers
- In the Object Configurator tab, click New and select New Multi Zone Audio Driver.
- In the New object dialog box, enter a unique description.
- Click OK.
- The Multi Zone Audio driver displays in the System Browser under the Drivers node and is selected.
- In the Operation tab, navigate to the Driver Status property and click Start.
- The Multi Zone Audio driver is created and started.
- Click the added Multi Zone Audio driver and click the Driver Editor tab.
- Open the Driver Settings expander.
- A Description for the driver displays, however, you can enter a description.
- Open the Configuration Properties expander.
- In the Device Request Timeout field, enter 20000.
- In the Check Status Rate field, enter 90000.
- Open the Notification Integration expander.
- In the Batch Size field, set the value as 10 (default is 100). The batch size must be equal to or greater than the total number of the configured multi-zone recipient devices. Batch size specifies the size in which the request is processed by the driver. The batch size displays the number of devices to which Notification interacts in one instant. For example, if there are 100 devices on which a message has to be displayed and a batch size of 10 is entered, Notification will send the message to batches of 10 devices each.
- In the Expected delivery Time field, enter the time in seconds. The default expected delivery time is 5 seconds.
NOTE: Notification does not guarantee the message delivery will be completed within the time entered in the Expected delivery Time field. This value is solely used to compute delivery statistics indicating whether message delivery to the multi zone audio device was on-time or late.
- Click Save .
- The parameters are configured for the multi zone audio driver.
- Select Project > Field Networks.
- The Object Configurator tab displays in the Primary pane.
- Click New Object and select New Multi Zone Audio Field Network.
- In the New Object dialog box, enter a name and description.
- Click OK.
- The field network appears in the Field Networks hierarchy.
- The Multi Zone Audio driver is automatically associated to the field network. In the Network Editor tab, under the Network Settings expander, you can see that the values are preselected, and the driver is already assigned.
- Select Project > Field networks.
- Select the Multi Zone Audio Network.
- In the Network Editor tab, click Create .
- In the New object dialog box, enter a name and description.
- Click OK.
- The Device Editor tab displays.
- Open the Device Settings expander.
- Enter a description for the device.
- Open the Configuration Properties expander.
- Set Extension Number to the extension of the Line Level Audio device connected to the fire panel.
NOTE: For details on creating extensions for the Line Level Audio device, refer to the Telephony Configuration section.
- From the Device Mode drop-down list, select Operational
- In the Relay Activation Time field, set the time taken by the Perle Relay device to open or close the relay (for example, [0:15000]”- 15 seconds (15000) is the maximum allowed delay).
- Click Save .
- The Multi Zone Audio device is created and a Multi Zone Perle device can be added.
- Select the Multi Zone Perle device.
- Select the Device Editor tab and click Create .
- In the New object dialog box, enter a name and description.
- Click OK.
- The Device Editor tab displays.
- Open the Device Settings expander.
- Enter a description for the device.
- Open the Configuration Properties expander.
- In IP Address field, enter the IP address of the Perle device.
- Set the Serial Port Number to the COM port that was configured for IO access for the Perle device. For example, COM100.
NOTE: To check the COM ports that were used by the device, open the TruePort Management Tool.
- From the Device Mode drop-down list, select Operational.
- Click Save .
- The Multi Zone Perle Device configuration details are saved. Now Multi Audio Zone can be added.
- The Multi Zone Perle Device is created.
- Select the created Multi Zone Perle Device.
- Select the Device Editor tab, click Create .
- In the New object dialog box, enter a name and description.
- Click OK.
- The Device Editor tab displays.
- Open the Device Settings expander.
- Enter a description for the device.
- Open the Configuration Properties expander.
- Set the Relay Number to the relay used for this particular fire panel interface.
NOTE: The Perle device has two relays. This step creates a single instance of a relay. A second relay can also be configured to control a separate audio zone, but with the same audio source. To create a second relay, do the following outlined in the Creating Multi Zone Perle Device section and steps 2 to 10 mentioned in this section.
- From the Device Mode drop-down list, select Operational.
- Click Save .
- The Multi Audio Zone configuration details are saved.
To verify that the multi-zone device is configured correctly, view the connection status of the device under the field network, as well as use the Telephony Configuration tool to verify that the LLA device has properly registered with the Telephony Server.
