Additional Pipe Diagram Procedures
Complete the following procedures as needed:
Copy Pipe Element(s) to Selected or Original Layer
- You have one or more pipe or pipe coupling elements on the canvas.
- Click somewhere on an element, and then press CTRL and click on one or more elements and then drag with the mouse.
- Release the CTRL key.
- A new copy is created on the canvas.
- Or, to copy elements to the selected layer in the Element Tree, do the following:
- In the Element Tree, from the Selected Layer dropdown menu, select the layer you want to paste the element(s) on.
- On the canvas, right-click on the element, and from the contextual menu, select Copy.
NOTE: To select multiple elements, press CTRL and then select the elements.
- Right-click anywhere on the canvas, and select Paste and then select Paste to Selected Layer.
- The element(s) are copied to the Selected Layer in the Element Tree.
Delete a Pipe Segment
- You have a Pipe segment on the canvas.
- Press SHIFT and click on the Pipe element segment you want to delete.
- The segment of the Pipe fades to a lighter gray. This is now the active segment.
- Do one of the following:
- From the keyboard press the Delete key.
- Right-click on the Pipe element and from the contextual menu select Delete.
- The Pipe segment is deleted
Disconnect a Pipe Branch
You can disconnect a segment from a Branch or Connection handle.
- You have a Pipe segment on the canvas.
- Right-click on the Branch or Connection handle and then click Disconnect.
- You have disconnected the segment from the Pipe element.
Draw a Pipe Segment
- You are in Design or Test mode and have a graphic open and want to draw a straight Pipe segment.
- On the Home tab, from the Elements group, click Pipe.
- The mouse pointer changes to crosshair when you move the mouse over the canvas.
- On the canvas, click and drag the crosshairs cursor to draw a straight Pipe segment and release the mouse button when you are done.
- From the Pipe Properties view, set the following Pipe segment properties:
- Fitting Type - From the drop-down menu, select a Round end, or a Miter end.
- Auto Pipe Joint - Click on the checkbox to automatically display the Pipe joints as a segment is drawn.
- Diameter – Type or use the arrows to set the Pipe segment diameter size. Minimum diameter is 10.
- (Optional) To adjust the size of the Pipe element even further, navigate to the Layout Properties, and adjust the Scale Factor until the appropriate dimension is reached.
Group Pipe and Pipe Coupling Elements
To bind the two elements together so they do not separate during further engineering of the graphic.
- On the keyboard, press CTRL and then select the pipe coupling and pipe element.
- Right-click on the selection, and from the context menu, select Group.
- The two elements are now grouped together.
Merge Pipe Segments and Branches
Merge two Pipe elements or segments from a Start, End, or Midpoint handle.
- You have a Pipe segment on the canvas.
- Press CTRL + Q and on the Pipe segment click on a Start, End, or Midpoint handle and drag the end until you reach the merging point.
- Release the mouse, and then release the keyboard keys.
- The two segments or Pipes elements are merged.
Move Pixel-by-Pixel
Activate an edit pixel-by-pixel mode and move the handle with the keyboard’s arrow keys. Applies to all handles.
NOTE: Ensure that from the View tab, in the Workspace group, the Snap checkbox is not selected.
- You have a pipe element on the canvas.
- From the keyboard, press CTRL + W and then click the pipe handle.
- Release the keys (CTRL + W) and the mouse.
- Use the Arrow keys to move the handle pixel-by-pixel.
- Press ESC to exit
Select a Pipe Segment
You can select a segment of a Pipe element. Segments are created when a branch is created.
- You have a pipe element with one or more branches.
- Press SHIFT + click on the segment or branch you want to see or make the active selection.
- The active segment or branch displays in a lighter shade of gray.
- Click anywhere on the canvas to exit the selection.
