Configuring Push Notifications
Scenario: You want to add full push notifications functionality to Desigo CC mobile app clients.

Prerequisites:
- You have a Desigo CC deployment that is already configured with an IIS web server and the WSI extension module to support the mobile app. For more information see Integrating the Mobile App.
Steps:
1 – Install or Upgrade the Push Notification Extension
Preform this procedure if the Push Notification extension is not yet installed on the Desigo CC server, or if you want to upgrade it to a newer version.
- You are logged into Windows with admin rights.
- In SMC, stop any started projects. Exit both Desigo CC and SMC.
- From the location of the full Desigo CC installation package, navigate to the InstallFiles directory, right-click the installer setup file, and select Run as administrator.
- The Install Wizard window displays.
- Click Next.
- If the installation package contains updated versions of already-installed extension modules, an Upgrade Selection screen displays.
a. If the Push Notification and/or Web Services extension modules are listed here, leave them selected to update them. Also leave Connectivity selected.
b. Deselect any other extension modules you do not want to update.
c. Click Next to continue.
- The Setup Type Selection screen displays.
- Click Modify next to Feature Selection.
- In the Feature Selection screen:
a. Expand the Connectivity suite.
b. Select the Push Notification check box. This will also cause the Web Services box to be auto-selected, if it is not already installed.
c. Click OK.
- Click Next and follow the on-screen prompts to finish installing or updating the extension modules.
- The Installation Complete dialog box displays.
- Click Close.
2 – Add the Push Notification Extension to a Project
Do this procedure to check whether the Push Notification extension is present in a project and to add it if needed.
- The Push Notification extension module is installed.
- Exit Desigo CC.
- Launch the System Management Console (SMC).
- In the SMC tree, select Projects > [project].
- In the Project Settings tab, open the Extension Information expander and look for Push Notification and Web Services in the list of the project’s extension modules.
- If both Push Notification and Web Services are included in the list and their status is
Updated
, then you are ready to work with push notifications in this project and can skip to the end of this procedure. Otherwise continue with the steps below.
- If the Project status in the Server Project Information expander is
started
, stop the project as follows:
a. Click Stop .
b. Click OK.
- The status bar at the bottom of the screen displays
Project is Stopping
, and then the Project status changes toStopped
.
- If Push Notification is not listed in the Extension Information expander, add it to the project as follows:
a. Click (+) Add to project.
b. In the Select Project Extensions dialog box, expand Connectivity.
c. Select the Push Notification check box. This will also auto-select Web Services, which is a prerequisite for push notifications.
d. Click OK.
- When finished, an
Extensions added successfully
message displays.
- Click Save Project .
- Click Activate Project and Start Project to start up the project again.
- You can start the Desigo CC client application.
3 – Install a Compatible Version of the Mobile App
Install the latest version of the mobile app and connect it to the Desigo CC server to start receiving push notifications on the device.
