Overview of Notification
Notification is a notification system that uses audio, text, and multimedia to provide information and instructions to people who may be impacted by an emergency event.
An emergency event is any undesired situation that may cause significant disruptions to people, such as interruption of services, property damage, personal injuries, or even deaths. Examples of emergency events are:
- Natural disasters: winter storm, flood or flash flood, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, pandemic, epidemic
- Hazardous material: chemical spill, oil spill, radiation leak, toxic gas leak, gas explosion
- Human-related: civil disturbance
- Technology and infrastructure: communication failure, power failure, water failure, transportation failures and accidents
An operator needs to respond to these events by initiating and managing Incidents, which are used to manage and keep track of the notifications that were launched as part of these incidents.
Notifications such as messages and live announcements are launched by the operator and are addressed to recipients such as users, groups, devices, or locations to inform them on emergency events.
