Creating and Configuring Notification Template

Scenario: You want to create and configure notification template so that a preconfigured message or a live announcement can be sent to recipients during an emergency event.

Steps:

1 – Create a Message/Live Announcement Template
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • The Notification Templates tab displays.
  1. Click Create .
  • The Create New Object dialog box displays.
  1. From the Child Type drop-down list, select Message Template/Live Announcement Template.
    NOTE: You can only create a live announcement template if you have the MNS license.
  1. Enter a value into the Name field of the message template/live announcement template.
    NOTE: The description is identical to the name and displays by default, but is editable.
  1. Click OK.
  • The message template/live announcement template is created and listed under Notification Templates in System Browser. Alternatively, you can also import a message or live announcement template.

 

2 – Configure the Message/Live Announcement Template
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  1. Select the message template or live announcement template that you want to edit.
  1. Depending on the template you want to configure, click the Message Editor or Live Announcement Editor tab.
  1. Open the General Settings expander and configure the parameters for a message template in the Message Editor or in the Live Announcement Editor.
  1. Specify the values to configure Control Options such as priority or escalation in the Message Editor or Live Announcement Editor.
  1. Open the Recipients expander and perform the following steps to add the recipient to the message or live announcement template:
    a. (Available only for MNS license users) Select or clear the Link to incident by reference check box as required.
    b. Select the required recipient from the preconfigured list of recipients.
    c. Click Add.
    d. Select the Mandatory check box to make the associated recipient a mandatory recipient of the message / live announcement template.
  1. (Applicable only for Message Template of Reno Plus and MNS license users) In the Scheduler expander, configure the parameters for scheduling the delivery of the message.
  1. (Applicable only for Reno Plus and MNS license users) In the Channel Selection expander in the Message Editor or Live Announcement Editor, specify the type of delivery methods and device types for sending a message or live announcement by specifying the values.
  1. Click Save .
  • The message / live announcement settings are saved.
  1. (Applicable only for Message Template) Click the Message Content Editor tab and perform the following steps:
    a. To configure the content for a text message, specify the values in the Text Content expander.
    b. Configure the audio and multimedia content for the message in Message Content Editor.
    c. The message/live announcement template is configured.

 

3 – Save the Message/Live Announcement Template
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates and select the message template or live announcement template that you want to edit.
  1. Click the Message Editor or Live Announcement Editor tab.
  1. Click Save .
  • The message/live announcement template is saved.
